Airborne Sway Standing Hold for Adventurous Couples
Also known as Supported Standing Lift
This standing position lets one partner be lifted and steadied while both move in a building, unhurried rhythm. It rewards good balance, clear communication and a willingness to take things slowly before picking up speed.
How to do it
Stand facing each other close enough that your bodies are aligned, with the lifted partner's arms around the other's shoulders.
The supporting partner brings their hands firmly under the thighs or hips and lifts gently, testing the balance before committing to the full hold.
Once steady, wrap the legs around the supporting partner's waist and lean back slightly against a wall or sturdy surface for extra stability.
Start with small, slow back and forth movements, letting the momentum build as both partners find a shared pace.
Pause often to check comfort, adjust grip and breathe together before continuing.
Tips
Warm up with a few minutes of close standing contact so both partners feel relaxed and balanced before attempting the lift.
Keep a wall or bed nearby as a backup support and agree on a clear signal for pausing.
Lower the lifted partner onto a soft surface if either person's arms or back begin to tire.
